Sean Penn has been in the media today because he has been questioning Wyclef Jean's intention & capability to run for presidency of Haiti.
I did a post in support of Mr Jean as El Presidente largely based upon the fact that he is a Haitian, and has some experience of working with the Haitian people, including relief work after the recent devastation.
Yes, the Haitian people will support Wyclef because he is a man with big (but not convincing) talk, and he has been involved, and he is their boy. However (a big however), he does not have the political or international experience required by of a President. Thus, he would be a novice...a rookie...totally inexperienced but in charge of huge wack of international money. Further the IRS have said that 2.5 Mill in US$ is due after years of not coughing up taxes......
Wyclef has mucky hands.... the charitable proceeds of Yele (his foundation) have not been represented well in the media...he has not hired a spokesman or woman...choosing to front it himself is a bad move...especially when the people who have contributed millions are questioning where the donations have actually gone....
ACCOUNTABILITY.
Wyclef has not been accountable, and that is why Sean Penn has questioned his recent ambitions. Sean has seen, like you and I have, that when questioned, Wyclef's initial response is to cry and get emotional about accusations. This approach will not do if he is to become President Haiti. To me it also speaks of his maturity as a candidate & as a man.
I think it would be most unfortunate to put Wyclef in the position of President, only to realise several years later that the national coffers have been emptied and someone has used IMF monies & other international monies as their very own international personal piggy bank.
